Beads and Wood Dream Catcher

Where our beads can be used to? The common ways are to make beaded jewelry, while beaded jewelry is not the most beads consumptive way. When we know how many beads a Beading Quilts Project need, we would get stunned.

Today we’ll neither talking about beaded jewelry nor Beading Quilt Project, instead, the topic we’ll discuss is Beaded Dream Catcher. What dream catcher is? And what are they used for?

Dream catchers are one of the most fantastic traditions of Native Americans. From a very nice pinner, Natascha, I know the origin of dream catcher. Though her explanation is a little different with that on Wikipedia, I choose to believe in her for her definition for dream catcher is so sweet and beautiful. I should thank you for Natascha’s detailed answer. Following is her explanation.

The origin of Dream Catcher (From Natascha)

Dream Catchers are traditionally a First Nations (Native North Americans) gift given by family to children with the intent that good dreams are channeled to the child and bad dreams are trapped and then destroyed by the first rays of the morning sun.

The tradition of Dream Catcher( From website)

Dream catchers are one of the most fascinating traditions of Native Americans. The traditional dream catcher was intended to protect the sleeping individual from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through. The positive dreams would slip through the hole in the center of the dream catcher, and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below.

The nickname of Dream Catcher

The negative dreams would get caught up in the web, and expire when the first rays of the sun struck them. Many would call them dust catchers (each to his own).

What are dream catchers used for?

Generally they are designed to hang over a child’s bed or in a window; many of the pieces of wood that I find tend to lend themselves to table top versions.

From my view, Dream Catcher is so beautiful and full of creation and nice wishes. Beads and Wood, cleverly used by crafter, can be a huge inspiration source. Handmade crafts should be highly appreciated.
